The Elements Series

The following pieces of jewellery all have the same theme. They are all made of pure elements, such as gold, silver, copper, palladium or aluminium. When a ring or necklace is mixed with its componants, you will get an alloy of 14 or 18 karat gold. Depending on the materials, colour can change into white, red or even purple. So what the people are wearing, is 14 karat or 18 karat gold, it's just not mixed yet.

“Hong Nan Lü Nü” is Chinese for “red men green women in urban life”. A place where there is space and possibility to seek what you want. To connect with the things you like, weather this is a thing or a person, man or woman. “Hong Nan Lü Nü” represents the men and women who seek adventure, pleasure and challenge in constant encounter in metropolitan.

Pearl Rings 2006, Made of 14 krt yellow gold and freshwater pearls

Pin 2002, By creating a little plexiglass man holding onto the bluegold, I tried to accentuate the bluegold. As if your eyes are drawn from the hanging man to the ‘balloon’

Black Corsican Thing 2003, This black piece was found on the beach of Corsica, and up until today I have no idea what it is. But I found it so interesting, and immediately thought I had to make it into a brooch. There have been no adjustments made on the black piece

Mokumé Broches 2003, These brooches have been made especially for the exhibition at castle Zonneveld, Baarn, the Netherlands. The theme of the show was “Nature”. The “Leaves” are made of Mokumé, each colored different

Naughty Bird, Brooch 2005, This brooch is made of 925 silver and copper. It represents a little bird sitting on a branch. But every time the branch is shaken a bit too much, the bird will fall and hang upside down. So once in a while you have to help the naughty bird back onto its branch

Sodalite disc 1996, Made of 925 silver, rubber and sodalite.

My (work) holiday in China 2006

Two little girls on their way to perform in Shanghai.

Xin Tian Di, Shanghai, a cluster of modern cafes and little shops, for the rich and famous. A cola is even more expensive than in the Netherlands.

This is I guess the only modern jewellery gallery in China, at Xin Tian Di, Shanghai. It's called "Number D" and is the gallery of Jiang Qiong Er, where she shows mostly her own jewellery.

Because of the weither it's extremely quiet in the forbidden city, which was a great relief in a chaotic city of millions.

Expo ShangHai

The cluster where the exhibition took place was called "Hi Shanghai"

I was among big international companies, such as Philips and DHV. But to my surprise the people had almost no interest in the companies.

Even the reprisentatives of the big companies eventually helped me explain my work to the people, as they also got interested in my work. Thank the companies for sending female reprisentatives !!!

It shows that women love jewellery

Because I was among big companies, I thought it would be a good idea to put my jewellery right in front of the door. If any of the people were interested in the big companies, they'd be walking around my table anyway.
